Absence

If your child is going to be absent from school you must contact us that morning either by phone (0161 223 2805) by choosing option 1 and speaking to or leaving a message for Mrs Hughes – the Attendance Officer, or by email to d.hughes@oldhalldrive.manchester.sch.uk.

If your child/children are going to be absent due to having an appointment please provide the school with a medical card or letter so that we can take a copy of this for school records.

Leave of Absence

From September 1st 2013, the law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time. Any application for leave of absence will only be granted by the head teacher if there are exceptional circumstances which warrant granting leave. All requests for leave of absence for exceptional circumstances must be made in writing to the headteacher. If the request is declined failure to attend school may result in a penalty notice being issued.

Each such Penalty Notice incurs a fine of £120 to be paid within 28 days, which is reduced to £60 if paid within 21 days of the notice being served. Failure to pay a penalty notice may result in further action being taken against you.
