The staff in 3ET are as follows; Mrs Taylor and Mrs Heath.
Last half term we all enjoyed our ‘Gods and Mortals’ topic. We learnt all about life in Ancient Greece and were even visited by some real life Greeks to teach us about life in Athens and Sparta! In our English lessons we looked at Ancient Greek Myths and Legends, learning all about famous Greek heroes like Odysseus and Theseus and the gruesome beasts they meet along the way. We are so proud of the excellent work that the children produced in their writing lessons, using adjectives and adverbs to build suspense.
This half term is the very exciting start to our new ‘RESPECT Curriculum’ as part of the new approach from the Wise Owl Trust. As such, we are starting brand new topics that have never been seen before. This term our topic is called ‘Amazon Adventure’ following the story of the explorer Ed Stafford as he completed his incredible trek of the Amazon River – the whole 4000 miles of it! We are going to be completing a different mission each week exploring various different themes linked to Ed and the Amazon, from Amazonian artwork to preparing kit bags, to a training bootcamp. There is so much to learn and so much fun to have along the way so we are excited about what the children will produce over the course of the unit.
As well as all of this, the children are going to be learning all about addition and subtraction calculation strategies in Maths.
Please remember to keep us updated with any changes in your child’s dietary needs and contact details. It is important to have updated contact details in case we need to contact you about your child during the school day.
Please can you ensure that your child has their PE kit with them at the start of every week as it is important every child is able to participate – PE takes place every Wednesday and Thursday regardless of the weather and kits can be easily stored in children’s lockers.
A PE kit should contain;
Please also remember to ensure that your child is bringing their book bags to school every day, containing their reading books and reading records. We read in class every day, and regularly send letters home with the children so these bags are essential kit on a daily basis. Homework is due in on Wednesday of each week.
Thank you for your support, if you have any questions please feel free to speak to any member of staff in Class 3ET
