Reception: How to Catch a Mermaid

By Jane Ray

We have been reading ‘How to Catch a Mermaid’. We really loved hearing about and discussing what mermaids are like, including her long, golden hair.

The story is a wonderful way to talk about friendships and what being a good friend means.  The children loved the beautiful images in the book and this really triggered the children’s curiosity about what or who lives under the sea.

We talked about going to the beach and we even used our imagination to talk about what we would do if we saw a mermaid.
