Year 5: The House with Chicken Legs

By Sophie Anderson

Marinka dreams of a normal life: making friends, playing games and staying in one place for more than a few days. But her home is anything but normal. Her house has chicken legs — and it can get up and walk away whenever it wants!

Marinka lives with her grandmother, Baba Yaga, who has an important job: guiding the dead through the gateway to the stars. One day, Marinka is expected to become a Yaga too, but she desperately wants to choose her own future.

When Marinka breaks the rules in the hope of finding friendship, she sets off a chain of events that could change everything…
