Year 3: The Matilda Effect

 By Ellie Irving

The Matilda Effect is about how many women in science have not been given credit for their discoveries. It explains that their work was often ignored or given to male scientists instead. The book shares real-life examples of brilliant women who helped change the world. It also shows the challenges they faced because of unfair treatment. Readers learn why it is important to recognise everyone’s achievements equally. The story encourages people to stand up for fairness and equality. It reminds us that great ideas can come from anyone, no matter who they are.

Enya: “I liked The Matilda Effect because it showed how women scientists worked really hard but did not always get credit for their discoveries. My favourite part was learning about smart women who changed science. The book was interesting and taught me to always be fair to everyone.”

Scarlett: “This book was very inspiring. It explained how some women invented important things, but people forgot about them. I learned a lot of new facts about science and history. I think this book is great for kids who enjoy learning about real people.”

Zara: “I thought The Matilda Effect was exciting and educational. The stories were easy to understand, and I liked reading about brave women who never gave up. It made me want to learn more about science when I grow up.”
